Week 10/11: Systems, systems and even more systems


Hello and welcome to another Bone Quest development update. The last 14 days have been actioned packed with coding and I'm pleased to say that over the span of the two weeks I've managed to:

  • Finish up the core inventory system
  • Add item nodes that spawn throughout the world that can be used to gather resources for crafting
  • Implement the crafting system where you can create different items using said resources
  • Build the shop interface with the functionality to buy and sell items

And that's not including the optimisation and world building that's been going on too! To shake things up in this week's devlog, here's a little video which shows off some of these systems, I hope you enjoy it.

Looking forward to the next couple of weeks, I plan on adding three more systems/pieces of functionality to my game, the storage system, load screens, and save/load system, before polishing everything up ready for the release of the demo - Just as an FYI, these won't be the final systems I add to the game. I plan on including more in the final release but for the sake of getting my first demo out to start testing everything, they'll be some missing for the time being.
